A9 + 2 GB RAM in iPad 5th gen is showing its age, but is still pretty usable. A10 + 3 GB RAM in iPad 7th gen is very good. Very occasional short pauses can be noticed but it’s very decent overall.

Nov 28, 2023 · Same boat here. I have a 6th gen iPad for the same stuff and it's showing its age and considered both the 10th generation iPad and the 5th generation Air. I opted for the 10th gen because after factoring in the sale price and trade-in, it's only going to cost $250. I have my MBP for heavy lifting, which is why I opted for the base iPad model.

The 5th gen 12,9 inch is 6,4mm thick, while the 4th gen was 5,9mm. I'm not sure if that's the reason to retire the keyboard. 🤷🏼♀️.

I also have an iPad Air 5, but I do the same things with both, and the Pro doesn’t lack anything. For light use, iPads’ longevity is astonishing.
