Dublin Airport could handle about 35 million passengers next year following this week’s court ruling, meaning the hub would exceed a controversial cap on numbers there for the second time.

Dublin Airport is set to breach its passenger limit of 32 million in December after recording its busiest October ever with nearly 2.9 million people passing through its terminals, its operator DAA has said.

The stay order will grant airlines, including Aer Lingus and Ryanair, more time to possibly remove the passenger cap at Dublin Airport.

A cap on the number of flights coming in and out of Dublin Airport next summer has been paused by a High court ruling.
