Norway's Equinor has halted output from its Johan Sverdrup oilfield, western Europe's largest, due to an onshore power outage, the company said on Monday.

Equinor (NYSE:EQNR) said Monday it has stopped production from its Johan Sverdrup oilfield, western Europe's largest with production of ~750K boe/day, helping to boost futures prices. Brent front-month January crude oil (CO1:COM) trades +2.

Equinor has resumed production at the Johan Sverdrup oilfield in the North Sea following a power outage, reaching two-thirds of capacity by mid-morning on Tuesday, a company spokesperson said.

The U.S. dollar was also up on Tuesday at nearly its highest level in a year, while another persistent oil production outage at the Tengiz oilfield in Kazakhstan has resulted in a 30% decline in production for the field while repairs are completed.
