The world is still many hours, if not days, from learning the outcome of the 2024 United States presidential election. But all the way over in Thailand, viral internet sensation Moo Deng was given the opportunity to predict the race.

Move over Moo Deng, there’s a new plump and impeccably moisturised kid in town. Thailand’s baby pygmy hippo and internet icon is facing some friendly competition from Edinburgh Zoo’s latest arrival: Haggis.

The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland's Edinburgh Zoo announced their own tiny pygmy hippo, named Haggis, was born Oct. 30. The newborn, female calf is "doing well," according to zoo staff.

Moo Deng is a pygmy hippo native to West Africa and is on the endangered list as their natural habitat slowly vanishing due to human intervention.

It's November 5th, the day of the U.S. presidential elections, and while the polls are busy predicting outcomes, Gen Z and millennials are focused on Moo Deng, a viral hippo from Thailand. Moo Deng has "predicted" a win for Donald Trump by choosing a watermelon with his name over Kamala Harris's during a recent event at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo.
