Tatyana Tomashova has lost her London 2012 1500m silver medal after she became the fifth finalist to be disqualified for retrospective doping offences

Russian Tatyana Tomashova's result in the women's 1,500 metres at the 2012 London Olympics has been officially annulled, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) said on Tuesday. Tomashova was banned for 10 years by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in September for anti-doping rule violations at the Games and stripped of her silver medal from the race,

The raft of disqualifications means Ethiopia’s Abeba Aregawi now holds the silver medal for the women’s 1500m final and American Shannon Rowbury, who finished sixth, has been awarded the bronze

The report stated: "Tomashova is the latest athlete to be punished after analysis of her data held in the Moscow anti-doping laboratory showed she had been taking banned drugs.

Tatyana Tomashova originally finished fourth but was awarded silver after several athletes received doping bans in a race that ranks among the most tainted events in Olympic history. Now she will be stripped of her medal.
