Daniil Medvedev looked directly into the TV cameras and vented his frustration at the technology on offer during his China Open semi-final clash with Carlos Alcaraz. Medvedev was unhappy that he could not see a mid-match replay when at 5-5, 0-15, when the electronic line ruled in his opponent's favour.

Spanish second seed and four-time Grand Slam champion Alcaraz emerged from a tense first set to defeat Russian seventh seed Karen Khachanov 7-5, 6-2 in Beijing, warning rivals afterwards: “I’m not letting my opponents show their best tennis.”
