Government and private groups are funding a $100,000 reward for information about the death of a Mexican gray wolf in Arizona.

The cause of the wolf’s death is under investigation, although the agencies stated in their press release that “the mortality was not related to agency management actions.”

Federal and state officials, along with conservation groups, are asking for the public’s help after a federally protected Mexican wolf was found dead near Flagstaff earlier this month.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says an endangered Mexican gray wolf was found dead west of Flagstaff last week.
