Reliability wise, the G36 should outperform the Hk416 because the G36 proprietary magazine is more reliable than STANAG mags like the SA80A2 steel magazine. The XM8, which is basically a modified G36 outperformed the Hk416 in the US army dust tests.

WEBDec 27, 2011 · I have an H&K G36 Dual optic on my SL8. The objectives are small for CQ works. I have used an Aimpoint M2 with 3X multipler on a La Rue swing mount on my M4 in Afghanistan. The aimpoint with multiplier is a good set up but puts the main optic too far forward for close quarters in my opinion if you I also used the multipler.
